I had the loveliest week with them, showing them my favourite spots in the city, eating a-few-too-many cinnamon rolls, and played a few-too-many games of Scrabble, a game that we are all terrible at if I'm being completely honest. Of course, I showed them Rosenborg Castle, my absolute favourite spot in Copenhagen, as well as Amalienborg (unfortunately we missed the changing of the guard) and spent a lovely afternoon in Bastards Cafe, somewhere I had been dying to take them since they landed in Copenhagen.
Since I have seen a lot of what Copenhagen has to offer, we decided to visit Helsingør, just north of Copenhagen. Helsingør was a cute town, with many small side streets and cafes in the town centre. It was nice to have a stroll without the same hustle and bustle that we experienced in Copenhagen. I was surprised to when I realised that Han, a clear reference to the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, but in my opinion was way more impressive and aesthetically pleasing to see. Whilst in Helsingør, we decided to visit Kronborg Castle, aka Hamlet's Castle. The interior wasn't as impressive as Christiansborg Palace or Rosenborg Castle, the views were amazing. The views from the top of the castle were definitely worth the 150 step climb, even if my Nannan didn't make it to the top... The Casemates were also interesting, if not somewhat creepy - but we managed to make it through them in one piece (except for when my Nannan hit her head on the steps on the way out.)
I'm really happy that my grandparents were able to visit, and hopefully they loved the city just as much as I do. Hopefully, when my Grandad comes to help me move back home we can do a bit more exploring, and maybe even see a bit of Sweden, since he seems pretty amazed by the Øresund Bridge.
